Change to 50 Club Prizes

Dear 50 Club Member

Re: Chiltern Basketball 50 Club Season 2008 – 2009

I have had to recalculate the prizes for the 50 Club in order to maintain the 50% prize money for the Club. If we had maintained the advertised levels the Club would only have gained £180 instead of the £300 of the income. The total income this year is £600 and of that £300 would go into prizes. This amount is distributed into the 6 monthly prizes that allow £50 each month. Unfortunately if we maintained the original prizes of £35, £20 and £15 this would have amounted to £70 per month. I feel as the organiser I am able to do this and the change was discussed at the recent committee. However if you feel that you are not happy to retain your membership of the Club with the renewed prizes please advise me and I will reimburse your subscription.

Yours sincerely

50 Club Launch Information - October 2008

Dear Members, Friends and Parents of Chiltern Basketball

Once again I write to you asking if you could help raise funds for the Chiltern Basketball Club by joining our 50 Club. The Chiltern Club supports boys and girls as well as senior men and ladies. However, as always, our only finances come from subscriptions and we try to keep these as low as possible to encourage more people to play the game. Unfortunately the cost of facilities and equipment keeps increasing. To this end I would like to ask you to join the 50 Club as a means of raising funds for the Club and at the same time giving you the opportunity to win your money back!

We have called it the 50 Club hoping for 50 members but if we had more than that we would raise the prize money accordingly. There is no limit to the number of “shares” you can purchase and it is not limited to just Club members so get your friends to join as well. The more members the bigger the prizes and the more money will be made for the Club. All the rules, together with the entry form, can be found here and a Standing Order form, should you choose to pay this way, can be found here. We hope that you will support the Club in this fund raising effort and help us maintain a sound base for the future of the Basketball Club.

Last year we had 30 members who raised £325 and £425 was paid out in prizes. The 50 Club money has contributed to the Central Venue League entry fees as well as buying a new and much needed kit for our Mens’ team who are competing for the first time in the Wessex league. Please consider joining and perhaps get some friends or work colleagues to join and help promote YOUR Club.

Yours sincerely
