Review of 2009/10 (U12 mixed)

The successful addition of the mixed Under 12’s group has been an asset to the club this year enabling many young players an opportunity to play ball at a club level. Before I go on I would like to thank both Gareth Taylor and Phil Hill for their support and commitment to coaching the team throughout the season. Their help has been invaluable on both training and match days.

We competed in the CVL based at Aylesbury College and despite coming last the team performed admirably and demonstrated great sportsmanship throughout each and every game. We had a tough draw on two accounts; we were the only team who seem to play anyone under the age of 10; and also the only team playing both males and females. As a result some final scores were somewhat disappointing and should by no means be taken as a true reflection on the ability of the team, the commitment they have shown to training and the enjoyment that everyone has gained from playing basketball. Moving in to next season we will continue to play a diverse team with the club ethos focusing on ensuring everyone at this age gets to play basketball and enjoy their time on court.

Summer training has been running well with good numbers in attendance and new recruits turning up week after week. The venue has been somewhat disappointing despite both Malcolm and Rods efforts to ensure Wycombe High School accommodate us in a suitable environment. The school has yet to achieve this and as such we should perhaps review this as a summer training venue for future years to come.
