Review of 2009/10 (Girls)

Chiltern Challengers continues to struggle without any competition for the girls to focus on. We have seen another influx of girls this season, many of whom are talented and with the talent from the existing girls we have had a strong team. As a whole however we lack a competitive edge and despite efforts to arrange some friendly matches we have played very few.

Currently the girls commit to training on a weekly basis and focus on implementing their new skills in to their school team games. A couple of the girls have been invited to train with the ladies and I hope this will continue in to next season with several others demonstrating potential to do the same.

We continue to need to have a girls presence on the Committee and anyone, parents or players, interested in volunteering and becoming a part of the club development programme should let their interest be known to me or the club committee.

Traditionally the summer training sessions see a drop off in attendance from the girls due to their exam commitments. However the same faces and more continue to turn up in the new basketball season. It would be nice for the girls to have a more consistent element of competition through the club so please be alert for any potential links or leagues we could tap in to. As in previous years I believe this will enable us to maintain the current numbers attending the girls training and also continue to recruit as a club to ensure numbers stay buoyant.
