Chiltern Basketball Club is a holder of the Sport England Clubmark. This is a club accreditation scheme that ensures we are aware of health and safety issues, child protection, development of the club and equity within the club. Holding the Clubmark gives us the opportunity to seek funding and to develop better links with the local authorities and schools within our area.

CHILD PROTECTION POLICY STATEMENT

Chiltern Basketball club aims to create an enjoyable environment for all juniors who wish to play basketball, other sports and social activities at the club.

The club emphasises that young people have the right to be safe, secure and free from threat.

The club emphasises that young people have the right to be treated with respect and for their concerns to be listened to and acted upon.

The club will ensure that junior members have a specific programmes and facilities designed for them, with adequate supervision.

The club has procedures in place to help any young person who requests help and support on a confidential basis, in issues relating to Child Protection.

The Club will ensure that the Head Coach holds a suitable EB qualification and that other coaches and coaching assistants are suitable qualified and have been vetted in relation to Child Protection.

The club will ensure that any club members or volunteers working with young people are aware of and apply the EB Code of conduct for Those Work with Children in Basketball and have signed the club self declaration form in relation to Child Protection.

The club has an adult member who is specifically responsible for young people.
